George Netschke has been named to the 2014 Michigan ‘Rising Stars’ list as a top up-and-coming lawyer by Super Lawyers.  Each year, no more than 2.5 percent of attorneys in the state receive this prestigious honor.

New Receivership Rules, Macomb County Bar Journal, June 2104

The Michigan Supreme Court recently adopted amendments to the Michigan Court Rules pertaining to receivership proceedings. The amendments to MCR 2.621 and MCR 2.622 became effective on May 1, 2014 and include important new provisions regarding the selection of a receiver; receivership orders; a receiver’s power to dispose of personal and real property; a receiver’s disbursement of funds and compensation; bond requirements; and other matters. The amendments provide clarity and specific procedures that should be noted by all practitioners who deal with these issues. This article will highlight some of the most significant changes in the court rules and the likely impact of these changes on receivership proceedings.

David Viviano named Michigan Supreme Court Justice

 

It is with much excitement that we announce one of Viviano Law’s founding partners (and brother of firm partner Joseph Viviano) has been appointed as the next state Supreme Court justice.

In 2006, David was elected to the Macomb County Circuit Court where he served as chief judge.  Before becoming a judge, David worked as an attorney with the Detroit law firm of Dickinson Wright, and Jenner & Block in Chicago.  He has also been the city attorney for Center Line.

In his announcement, Gov. Rick Snyder said of David:

“Judge Viviano has a distinguished record of judicial integrity and innovation.  His deep respect for the judicial branch of government and his commitment to the rule of law will serve Michigan well. I have every confidence that he will be a compassionate, principled justice. He is an outstanding addition to the Michigan Supreme Court.”  – Gov. Rick Snyder

David Viviano Named Chief Judge

On November 17, 2011, the Michigan Supreme Court appointed the founding member of Viviano Law, David Viviano, as Chief Judge of the Macomb County Circuit and Probate Courts.  We are very proud of David and know he will do an outstanding job.

Viviano Law and Moore Penna Obtain $1.6 Million Jury Verdict

Joseph E. Viviano, managing partner of Viviano Law, was co-counsel on a legal team with Anthony Penna, of Moore Penna & Associates, for a leading Macomb County business family that was recently awarded a $1.6 million judgment jury verdict against a Novi-based computer software company.  The trial lasted seven days.  With interest, the award exceeds $2 million.  You can read more about the big win here:  http://macombdaily.com/articles/2011/11/06/online/srv0000015068668.txt
